My first book, Nothing: Something to Believe In, was published in 2007. You can buy it by clicking on the book to the right. It is a memoir about me and religion…that is to say me and the religion I do not have. I have been told that “nothing” is a negative word to call myself, but I like it. It says what it means: I have no religion. I am a Nothing when it comes to checking that particular box.

Don’t confuse that nothingness with worthlessness or bad self-image. I am lots of things: mother, wife, PTA president emeritus, Community Board member, block association president,  museum educator, writer, painter, cook, wine aficionado, daughter, sister, Democrat, Yankee fan…I think you get the picture.

Here are some other facts:

I am still working on fostering a better understanding between the haves and have-nots of religion. I still think we can get along.

My friend Donna and I are starting a blog to that end. It is called Pink Atheist. Check back here for the link…it will be up soon!

My new book project is a young adult fiction book called Luisa.

I am still working on a book about raising kids without religion, but I like writing about teenagers in a make-believe world right now.

Check out the box below for my recent essays and events. I also have a facebook page, so friend me and write on my wall!
